For many patients, especially those with any level of dental fear or anxiety, the words “oral surgery” can tie the stomach in knots. We want you to know that dentistry, particularly oral surgery, has come a long way in recent years, with advanced technology that’s less invasive for a more comfortable procedure with faster healing and better results. Dr. Joe has many years of experience and advanced training in oral surgery procedures, and is kind and gentle for a comfortable, personalized experience. You’re in good hands with our team at Dr. Joe Dentistry.
While our primary goal is to keep your natural teeth healthy and in your mouth for a lifetime, we’re all human and sometimes things happen. There may be a number of reasons where a tooth extraction is in your best interest. But don’t worry, today having a tooth extracted is a fairly routine and simple procedure.
Maybe you have a tooth that’s badly decayed and is past the point of repair. Maybe you have a tooth that’s infected or a failed root canal. Maybe your teeth are overcrowded or you have an impacted wisdom tooth. Whatever the reason, you can rest assured we’ll take great care of you.
Dr. Joe has completed advanced continuing education in the area of Wisdom Tooth Extraction. Extractions can be performed either under local or general anesthetic, depending on your needs and preferences. We also have sedation available to help make your appointment as relaxed and comfortable as possible.
Root canals are one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million every year. Most root canals are non-surgical, however, when complications arise, sometimes endodontic surgery is necessary. Dr. Joe has the advanced training and technology to take care of all your endodontic needs right here in our office, there’s no need to find a specialist.
If you’re experiencing tooth pain or sensitivity, you may have an infection in the pulp that requires treatment with a root canal. We know root canals have earned a bad rap over the years, but we want you to know root canals today are a routine and fairly painless procedure, usually no more uncomfortable than having a cavity filled. It’s actually the pain of an infection left untreated that’s much worse than the root canal itself.
To perform a root canal, Dr. Joe will first use a local anesthetic to make sure you are comfortable and don’t feel a thing. He will then make a small access hole in the tooth, and, using specialized instruments, he will carefully remove the infection. He will then sterilize and fill the chamber to prevent further infection, and will usually complete the process with a crown to protect and fortify the tooth, bringing it back to its healthy, functioning condition.
