At Dr. Joe Dentistry, we’re not in the business of making money. We do what we do because we genuinely care about and want to help people lead healthier, happier lives. If you’ve ever struggled with oral health problems, you understand the importance of a healthy smile. Our goal is provide comprehensive preventive care that eliminates the need for major restorative work and treatments down the road. If you do need some work, rest assured you’re in the most caring and capable hands with Dr. Joe and our team.

Oral Hygiene

Eating a healthy, balanced diet and maintaining a good oral hygiene routine are some of the best things you can do for your oral and overall health. And yes, you really should floss every day if you want to avoid tooth decay and gum disease that can have devastating consequences (read more below).

While it’s important for you to maintain your daily routine, the hygiene team here at Dr. Joe Dentistry is here to take care of any plaque or tartar you’ve left behind. Our hygienists are incredibly gentle and impressively thorough to leave your mouth with that fresh-from-the-dentist clean feeling, and without the sore gums.

Laser Therapy

Laser cleaning treatments for dental hygiene are significantly gentler than more traditional cleaning methods because cutting and scraping on the teeth are eliminated. The level of patient anxiety potentially decreases without the feeling or sounds of invasive tools. There is also a substantial reduction to post-cleaning discomfort and swelling when lasers are used to clean the teeth.

Laser cleaning is also biologically friendly, as it kills bacteria, infection, and the chance of cross-contamination into the bloodstream and other areas of the body. This provides a potential boost to the immune system and your overall health.

Gum Disease

Gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss among adults, and can contribute to serious systemic diseases if left untreated. Gum disease is a bacterial infection that travels through the gums and into the bloodstream, and eventually into your main lifelines – your heart and brain – increasing your risk for heart disease, stroke, diabetes, Alzheimer’s, and many other diseases.

If your gums are bleeding when you brush and floss, we’re sorry to tell you, you have gingivitis, or early-stage gum disease. The good news is, we can likely reverse the disease with some special products (CariFree®) and simple improvements to your oral hygiene routine. If your gum disease has progressed, we’re happy to offer laser periodontal therapy that targets the infection while leaving healthy tissue intact. No invasive cutting, scraping and sewing necessary.

Oral Cancer Screenings

Oral cancer is unfortunately on the rise in the United States, and is one of the most deadly forms of cancer because it is typically not diagnosed until late stage. When you usually only see your doctor when a problem arises, you (should) see your dentist more regularly, at least twice per year for cleanings and exams. Detecting oral cancer and other diseases is why these regular exams are SO important.

We are always on the lookout for abnormalities that may be signs of oral cancer, and you should pay close attention to what’s going on in your mouth regularly as well. This is particularly important if you fall into any of the high risk categories, including those who regularly smoke or use tobacco and drink alcohol. New research actually finds that HPV is the leading contributing factor, above both alcohol and tobacco use. Come see us today for an oral cancer screening and get peace of mind. It might just save your life.

Mouthguards

At Dr. Joe Dentistry, we believe your healthy smile is your greatest asset, and we want to do everything we can to protect it. That’s why we’re happy to offer custom mouthguards for both adults and kids.

If you or your little athlete is involved in any type of contact sports, we highly recommend a custom mouthguard for the most comfortable fit and the highest level of protection against tooth loss and other oral injuries, and can even minimize damage from concussions.

If you clench and grind your teeth at night like many of us do, you could do serious damage to your teeth over time. Not to mention the constant strain on your jaw joint (TMJ). A simple mouthguard worn comfortably while you sleep can protect your teeth and allow you to wake up feeling refreshed and pain-free, ready to tackle whatever the day brings your way!

If you’re ready to take a proactive approach to your oral health, you’ve come to the right place. Your Torrance dentist, Dr. Joe at Dr. Joe Dentistry, would love to take care of you.

“Highly impressed from the moment we walked in the door. Friendly staff and Dr. Joe was great with our son. Our family finally found a regular dentist. Thank you!”– Lauren
