Extractions can be performed either under local or general anesthetic, depending on your needs and preferences. Root canals are one of the most common dental procedures performed, well over 14 million every year. Most root canals are non-surgical, however, when complications arise, sometimes endodontic surgery is necessary. Dr. Joe has the advanced training and technology to take care of all your endodontic needs right here in our office, there’s no need to find a specialist.
If you’re experiencing tooth pain or sensitivity, you may have an infection in the pulp that requires treatment with a root canal. We know root canals have earned a bad rap over the years, but we want you to know root canals today are a routine and fairly painless procedure, usually no more uncomfortable than having a cavity filled. It’s actually the pain of an infection left untreated that’s much worse than the root canal itself.
To perform a root canal, Dr. Joe will first use a local anesthetic to make sure you are comfortable and don’t feel a thing. He will then make a small access hole in the tooth, and, using specialized instruments, he will carefully remove the infection. He will then sterilize and fill the chamber to prevent further infection, and will usually complete the process with a crown to protect and fortify the tooth, bringing it back to its healthy, functioning condition.
